Deputy Solicitor General Sumathu Dharmawardana gave evidence before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks on behalf of the Attorney General (AG) today (Jul 26).
This was after AG Dappula de Livera, appeared before the PSC and said that he could not give evidence since it would be an obstruction to his duties.
He also stated that he had informed the Speaker regarding this matter in writing previously. Accordingly, the PSC granted permission for the AG to leave the sitting without testifying before it.
Central Bank Governor Indrajith Coomaraswamy also provided evidence before the Select Committee today.
