Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman M K Amil has been removed from his post as chairman and member of the PS after he was found guilty of assaulting two policemen.
Mr. Amil was sentenced to three months imprisonment after he was found guilty of committing the offence when he was pulled over for driving a motorcycle without a helmet in 2013.
Charges were levelled against the PS Chairman for obstructing the duties of the policemen.
Accordingly, the Elections Commission, has informed Mr. Amil of his dismissal in a letter setting out the above charges for the reason behind his removal.
