Families of missing persons will receive a monthly relief payment of Rs 6000 from October 10 this year.
These funds would be deposited to their bank accounts on the 10th of every month, a joint cabinet proposal by the Finance and Social Progress Ministries stated.
Meanwhile, the Registrar General's Department would be instructed to issue Certificates of Absence for the families of missing individuals to ease the process of claiming these payments.
These proposals had been made in line with an interim report submitted by the Office on Missing Persons. Cabinet approval for this project had been granted yesterday (Sept 3).
