Fire at Colombo Port leaves one dead

One person was killed and another suffered injuries after a fire broke out at the premises of the Colombo Port in the early hours of this morning. 

Police stated the fire had erupted inside the restroom located adjacent to the port's canteen. The fire was doused by the Port Fire Brigade with assistance from the police and area residents. 

Two persons, identified as employees of the canteen, were injured in the incident and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries. 

The deceased has been identified as a 38-year-old individual. The extent of property damage is yet to be determined and police are conducting further inquiries.
