Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman M K Amil has decided to seek legal advice on his removal from the PS by the Elections Commission (EC).
The polls commission had removed Mr. Amil from his position as Chairman and member of the PS after he was found guilty of assaulting two policemen.
"Individuals who have committed severe crimes continue to function in their positions. I was charged only for obstructing the duty of the policemen," he claimed.
The former Chairman also pointed out that the EC had taken this decision six months after he had served an imprisonment term for this offence.
Mr. Amil was previously sentenced to three months of imprisonment after he was found guilty of assaulting two police officers when he was pulled over for travelling without a helmet on a motorcycle. The incident had taken place in 2013.
