The Health Ministry has set a maximum retail price for disposable face masks and N95 respirators.
The Ministry said it was compelled to impose a maximum retail price for the masks amid media reports that traders were selling the masks to the public at exhorbitant prices.
Accordingly, upon a decision taken by Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the Government has set a maximum retail price of Rs 15 for disposable face masks and disposble surgical masks.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has set a maximum retail price of Rs 150 for an N95 respirator.
The Health Ministry also warned that legal action will be taken against traders found to be selling masks above the new maximum retail price as well as those found to be hoarding face masks.

The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
