The Colombo High Court postponed the hearing of a bail application filed by the attorneys for former Minister Basil Rajapaksa until June 15. Former Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa, has been remanded till June 10 by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. Former Economic Development Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayatilaka, former Director General of the Divineguma Department, R.R.K. Ranawaka and Divi Neguma Regional Director Bandula Thilakasiri have also been remanded till June 10. Basil Rajapaksa and three other senior ministry officials were arrested by the police on April 22. They were arrested on charges of alleged misappropriation of funds in the Divi Neguma Department, which came under the purview of the Economic Development Minister.
