IGP Pujith Jayasundara ordered that investigations pertaining to today's explosions which took place in Colombo, Batticaloa and Katuwapitiya be handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Addressing a press briefing a short while ago, the Spokesman noted that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the blast at Dematagoda and are being questioned.
He explained that officers attached to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had raided a house in Mahawila Gardens close to the Dematagoda flyover following a tip-off received this evening.
A sub-police inspector and two constables attached to the CCD had died following an explosion which had occured at the residence where the suspects were arrested, Mr. Gunasekara said.
Meanwhile, the Police Spokesman said individuals who are require to report to work during the curfew, will be able to do so by producing their work identity cards .
Further, the leave of all police officers have been cancelled due to the present situation, Mr. Gunasekara said.
