Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrived at the residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07 this morning to record a statement from him over the 2008 abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr.
Mr Rajapaksa was at a wedding at a Colombo hotel when the CID detectives came to his residence. He arrived back at his residence a short while ago and the CID is currently recording his statement over the incident.
A large number of media personnel and supporters of the former President are currently outside Mr Rajapaksa's residence at Wijerama Mawatha.
The CID had earlier recorded statements from former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya over the same incident.
