A group of graduates in the Jaffna district held a protest opposite the Jaffna District Secretariat last evening (24) demanding to know why their applications submitted to the Government's graduate employment programme had been rejected.
According to the protesters, 3207 applicants from the Northern province who applied for the programme have been accepted while the applications of a further 2346 others have been rejected.
The protesters noted that Jaffna district also had the largest number of graduates whose applications had been rejected. They handed over a letter to the Jaffna District Secretary asking for reasons as to why their applications were rejected.
