An electronic media journalist who was taken into custody with CD's containing matter related to the National Thowheed Jamath group has been further remanded until May 27.
The remand order was issued when the suspect was produced before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate's Court today.
During today's hearing, Sub-Police Inspector M.K. Yasaratne told Additional District Judge Janaka Prasanna Samarasinghe that the suspect was produced before court in accordance with Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act.
Mr. Yasaratne also informed court that 90 videos containing NTJ's sermons and activities had been stored in 326 CD's which were discovered during a search operation at the suspect's residence in Anuradhapura.
While requesting court to remand the suspect even further, the Sub-Police Inspector also said that the prosecution outrightly opposes the granting of bail to the suspect. Accordingly, court ordered the suspect to be remanded until May 27.
