The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will submit a no-confidence motion against the government to the Speaker tomorrow, JVP MP (Dr.) Nalinda Jayatissa told Times Online.
The motion is being put forward owing to the government's failure to prevent the Easter Sunday terror attacks on April 21 and the political hand allegedly being played by certain ministers in the attacks.
"The government failed to act upon intelligence warnings issued by countries such as Australia, US, India, and even our local intelligency service on the Easter Sunday attacks," Dr. Jayatissa pointed out adding that some ministers are alleged to have supported these terrorist groups both financially and politically.
Accordingly, the motion would seek the removal of the President, Prime Minister, and the Cabinet of Ministers from their respective positions. "We will hand over the motion to the Speaker tomorrow morning," the JVP parliamentarian said.
