The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided to vote in favour of the no-confidence motion against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, JVP General Secretary Vijitha Herath said yesterday (May 27).
This decision was taken based on the allegations that have been levelled against the Minister, Mr. Herath told a news conference at Battaramulla. He added that his party does not wish to protect any Minister in the government.
The JVP General Secretary said that there are neither legal provisions nor moral obligations for the government to postpone the no-faith vote against Mr. Bathiudeen by appointing a Parliamentary Select Committee.
"The Parliamentary Select Committee which has been appointed to probe into the Minister and the no-confidence motion brought against him are not inter- related to each other," Mr. Herath pointed out.
