Parliamentarian Kabir Hashim who resigned from his ministerial portfolio recently has said that he is willing to resume duties as Minister if asked to do so.
Mr. Hashim explained that the group of muslim parliamentarians who collectively resigned from their ministerial portfolios, had done so for the sake of the country's security.
He made these remarks while speaking to the press after calling on the Chief Prelates of the Asgiri and Malwathu chapters.
Kabir Hashim had resigned as Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development on June 04. At present Anoma Gamage serves as the Acting Minister while filling in the vacancy.
Meanwhile, the former minister said that the United National Pary (UNP) would put forward a candidate at the upcoming presidential polls. This candidate would be backed by the United National Front (a coalition of parties forming the government), he said.
