The Organization to protect the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to nominate parliamentarian Kumara Welgama as their presidential candidate, its acting secretary Rajitha Kodithuwakku said.
Kodithuwakku said that Welgama would be appointed as the presidential candidate if the SLFP does not field its own candidate at the upcoming elections.
Accordingly, Welgama is expected to call on the SLFP leader President Maithripala Sirisena today (Oct 3) to discuss matters in this regard.
The acting secretary further said that they would make the cash deposit on behalf of Welgama as an Independent Candidate, at the Election Commission tomorrow.
