All nursing officers attached to the Hambantota General Hospital have been informed in writing to end their strike and report back to work, a hospital official said.
Hospital Director Dr Ravindra Abeysuriya said that some 450 nursing officers who launched a strike on November 5, have not reported to work so far.
He noted that specialist doctors, doctors and supplementary medical officers are filling in for the nurses on strike.
Initially both nurses and paramedic officers had launched a strike after a dispute in their hostel, following which the matter was resolved before court.
However, the nurses had launched a strike this week against the Hospital Director claiming that he had made biased submissions to court.
Hambantota District Secretary M.K. Bandula Harischandra said a letter has been sent to the Health Secretary seeking to resolve this issue as it has inconvenienced patients.
