A fundamental rights petition has been filed today (March 14) by A W Shriyani, the aunt of Makandure Madush, in order to prevent the latter from being brought back to the country.
The petitioner had sought a Supreme Court order to prevent the arrest of Makandure Madush and being brought back into the country.
Ms. Shriyani claimed that doing so would be a violation of her nephew's fundamental rights.
Special Task Force Commandant Senior DIG M R Latiff and 19 others have been named as respondents in the petition.
S. A. Madush Lakshitha alias Makandure Madush - a notorious drug criminal was arrested in Dubai last month along with 30 others and have been remanded until March 27 by the Dubai courts.
