The Department of Registration of Persons has decided to launch a mobile app that would ease the identification of individual.
The mobile app is expected to be launched next month to help departments and authorities in identifying an individual given the current situation of the country.
A total of 36 departments and authorities which the Inland Revenue Department, state banks, ministries and even security forces will be granted access to the app.
Access to the app will also be granted to private companies at their discretion.
Following the launch of the mobile app, entities which have been given access, will be able to enter the NIC number of a person and view the necessary particulars corresponding to the individual.
The Registration of Persons Department expects that the app would help in identifying individuals who have forged NIC’s.
