A 29-year old has been killed after a tree had fallen over him while travelling on a motorcycle in Teldeniya last night.
Police said the accident had occured along the Kandy - Mahiyanganaya road at around 9:20 pm.
The tree is believed to have fallen due to the heavy winds and rains which were experienced yesterday, police said.
Sunil Ariyaratne, the victim, had died after being admitted to the Teldeniya Hospital. He is a resident of Kandy.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
