MP Namal Rajapaksa took to twitter to thank supporters in the wake of President Rajapaksa conceding election defeat , in a fiercely contested presidential poll. Supporters of Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena took to the streets in celebration as the results kept rolling out with nearly a third of the ballots officially declared, Mr Sirisena has 52.49 percent of the vote and Mr Rajapaksa 46.21 percent. Earliar on Presidential Spokesman Mohan Samaranayake said that incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksha, congratulated President-apparent Maithripala Sirisena over the phone and enquired when he would assume duties. President Rajapakse also took to twitter posting the following message to thank supporters.
