The Appeal Court has announced that a new judge bench would hear a case against the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA)'s President on June 21.
This announcement comes after Appeal Court Judge Janaka de Silva had previously recused himself from the judge bench by citing personal reasons.
Accordingly, a two-member judge bench of Justices Shiran Gunaratne and Mahinda Samayawardena will conduct further hearings on the case.
GMOA President Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya has been accused of condemning the Appeal Court's verdict on the SAITM private medical institute case on during a protest opposite the Fort Railway station on April 07.
The case against the medical union's President was filed by Professor Sarath Wijesuriya representing the National Movement for Social Justice and Convenor of the Puravesi Balaya movement.
