One person has died while one had been injured in a shooting carried out by two unidentified persons this morning in Kohuwala, police said.
According to the police, the victims had been travelling in a Land Cruiser jeep when the shooting had taken place in Jambugasmulla Mawatha at around 1:10 am.
The victims who sustained injuries had been admitted to the Kalubowila hospital following which one individual had passed away.
Police have identified the victim as a 38-year old resident of Udahamulla. He had been driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The injured victim, a 40-year old resident of Thalpathpitiya has been transferred to the Colombo General Hospital for further treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspects who had fled the area following the shooting.
