The plan to appoint powerful former Secretary to the Treasury Dr. P. B. Jayasundera as a Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Samurdi and Social Empowerment has been thwarted by several senior cabinet ministers, informed sources said.
Minister of Samurdi and Social Empowerment S. B. Dissanayake’s proposal to appoint Dr. Jayasundera as a senior advisor of his ministry was rejected by a majority of cabinet ministers, sources revealed.
Dr. Jayasundera’s actions and interferences into previous regime’s affairs and the administration of the Finance Ministry and his alleged involvement in financial misappropriation came under severe criticism of several ministers when this proposal was made by Minister S. B. Dissanayake. (Bandula)
