Two containers of smuggled beedi leaves weighing 11,000 kilos have been discovered by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) last evening.
Police said that the consignments were seized upon a tip off, at the Customs container terminal in the vicinity of the Ingurukade junction.
The contraband had been smuggled under the guise of importing a certain chemical used in the production of tyres.
A search operation is currently underway to arrest the suspects involved in smuggling the beedi leaves into the country.
