Police Commission halts transfer of 13 high ranking police officials sent by IGP
The National Police Commission (NPC) has halted the transfers of 13 high ranking police officials including two Senior DIG's, the Commission said.
The list of police officials who were slated to be transferred was sent to the NPC by Inspector General of Police IGP Pujith Jayasundara.
The NPC which convened today (Apr 26) had taken this decision after considering a possible disruption to the activities of the Committee which was appointed to probe last Sunday's attacks.
The police officers whose transfers were halted are as follows :
- Western Province Senior DIG Nandana Munasinghe
- North Western and North Central Province Senior DIG Jagath Abeygunawardena
- Colombo District DIG Lalith Pathinayake
- Western Province (North) DIG Deshabandu Thennakoon
- Puttalam District DIG Champika Siriwardena
- Colombo Central SSP Upali Jayasinghe
- Trincomalee SSP K. Kadupitiya
- Meegamuwa SSP Chandana Athukorala
- Seethawaka SP U. Chandana
- Elpitiya SP Nihal Thalduwa
- Colombo North SP Sanjeewa Bandara
- Kelaniya SP Royash Dias
