Police are tracking down 23 persons who have posted wrong information about the coronavirus situation on their Facebooks in a manner inciting the public, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said.
DIG Rohana told a news conference that the Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation about them.
He called on the public to refrain from sharing information which is inaccurate about the coronavirus issue.
He said those sharing such information could face a jail term up to two years.
