Free Postage Facilities for Members of Parliament (MP) s and Members of Provincial Councils have been increased with effect from this month.
The value of free postal stamps issued to MPs will go from Rs. 175,000 at present to Rs. 350,000 while for PC members it will go from Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 48,000.
The decision to increase the postal facilities was taken by Cabinet on a proposal made by Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs M. H. A. Haleem.
The facility has not been increased since 2007 while postal charges have been increased in several occasions. Hence it was decided to amend the annual amount provided for above facility as follows, the Minister informed Cabinet.
