President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (Oct 1) gifted a cash donation to the father who saved his family from a fire in Kandy while risking his life earlier this year.
Namanadan Ramaraj, a person who plates utensils in gold for a living, had saved his wife, and two children from their house which was located in the sixth floor of a building in Yatinuwara, Kandy.
The President had gifted a cash donation of Rs 1 million to Ramaraj who lost his business as a result of the fire.
