President Maithripala Sirisena today made a contribution of Rs 1 million to the family of the Police Sergeant who died during a search following the Easter Sunday attacks last month.
Bathiya Bandara Ekanayake who was attached to the Colombo Crimes Division was killed when a bomber detonated a suicide vest inside a residence in Dematagoda.
The deceased who was serving as a Police Constable was posthumously promoted to the post of Sergeant following the tragic incident.
