President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a gazette notification declaring the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission as being under the Ministry of Defence as of March 07.
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Telecommunication Act has also been brought under the purview of the Defence Ministry.
Meanwhile, SriLankan Airlines Ltd. and its subsidiaries have been listed under the Ministry of Finance, the gazette read.
The Ranmihithenna Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-cinema Park has been brought under the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs while Sri Lanka Telecom and its subsidiaries now fall under the Ministry of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment and Sports.
