Rail employees on strike without notice considered to have vacated post : Railway Official
Rail employees engaged in strike actions without applying for sick leave are to be considered as those who have vacated their posts, the Railways Department said.
Railways General Manager, Dilantha Fernando issuing a letter to this effect to Engineers, Station Masters, Train guards, supervisors, and other officials said this decision had been taken in line with Clause 172 of the Procedural Rules.
According to regulations "a Public Officer who absents himself from duty without informing his Head of Institution shall be deemed to have vacated his post on his own accord".
Among these employees are engine drivers, guards, controllers, and station masters.
