Re-elected Indian Premier Narendra Modi has pledged to offer any assistance required by Sri Lanka, the President's Media Division said today (May 31).
He had made this remark during discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena on the sidelines of Modi's swearing in ceremony in Hyderabad yesterday.
The meeting had taken place at the official residence of Prime Minister Modi.
During the discussion, PM Modi said that the bilateral ties between both countries in terms of peace and development must be further strengthened.
Both leaders had pledged to take relevant measures in order to eliminate terrorsim and ensure peace in the region, the President's Media Division noted in a press release.
While congratulating Premier Modi on his re-election to office, President Sirisena had expressed hope of strengthening the ties between the two neighbouring countries during the former's second term in office.
