Rival protests opposite Aluthkade Courts

A group of civil society representatives held a protest opposite the Judicial Service Commission in Aluthkade today demanding action against those engaged in elephant theft and environmental destruction. The protesters voiced their concerns at alleged external and internal interference by various parties intent on subverting the course of justice. A campaign to collect signatures was also launched.

Meanwhile, a rival protest was staged opposite the Aluthkade Magistrate's Court by a group of lawyers demanding that the sovereignty of the judiciary be respected.
