Indian government has agreed to provide a grant of Rs. 300 million for livelihood development including fisheries in Hambantota District, Co cabinet spokesman Gayantha Karunathilake said.
Part of the grant is expected to be used for developing fisheries villages under the above programme. Accordingly, the cabinet approved a proposal made by Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera to sign an agreement between Sri Lanka and India over the implementation and funding of the programme.
