Schools in the Colombo and Sri Jayawardenapura Educational zones will be closed on October 7 when the Election Commission accepts nominations for the presidential election, the Education Ministry said.
All schools in Borella, Colombo (South), Colombo (Central), and President's College, Hewavitharana Maha Vidyalaya, and Hewavitharana Model Primary School in Rajagiriya would remain closed on this day.
The Education Ministry in a statement noted that several roads including Sarana Mawatha, Rajagiriya in which the Election Commission (EC) is located would be closed on the day of accepting nominations.
The road near the Rajagiriya roundabout would be allocated for the parking of vehicles arriving at the EC.
Nominations would be accepted between 9 am and 11 am on October 7 while objections to these nominations could be made between 9 am and 11:30 am, the EC said.
The presidential election is to be held on November 16.
