Security has been tightened around the Jaffna Nallur Kovil after an anonymous letter cited a possible attack, security forces in Jaffna said.
The Police, Special Task Force and tri-forces were deployed for security and are currently conducting a search in the area after the anonymous letter was received by the Northern Governor's office.
The Governor's Office confirmed that such a letter has been received and steps were sebsquently taken to seek security for the area.
Accordingly, security has been tightened at the location since many people visit the Nallur Kovil for religious activities and rituals on Friday's every week.
The Point Pedro road has also been closed off from the perimeter of the Kovil as a part of the security enforcements in the area.
