The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has made public the agreements it signed with then Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa as well as the one signed with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to counter the "lies" being spread by some members of the SLPP.
Deputy Chairman of the SLFP Prof. Rohana Lukshman Piyadasa told Times Online that the two agreements are being made public so that the people can see the truth and judge for themselves.
"By making the agreements public, we are asking the SLPP to publicly state if the agreements we signed between President Rajapaksa and the SLPP are lies," he added.
Among the matters the SLFP claims the SLPP agreed to was for the proposed alliance between the two parties to have joint chairpersons; with one from the SLPP and one from the SLFP.
The SLFP also claims the SLPP agreed to consult the SLFP and its leader Maithripala Sirisena when taking political and policy decisions of "national importance," especially decisions regarding problems faced by Tamil and Muslim communities. It was also agreed that such decisions will be taken on consensus, the SLFP says.
Following are some of the pages from the two agreements signed between the SLFP and then Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa as well as the one signed between SLFP and SLPP:
