Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members have been warned of being subjected to a disciplinary inquiry if they crossover before an agreement is signed with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
Mahinda Amaraweera, General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance under which the SLFP is a constituent party, said that these instructions had been issued to all SLFPers in local authorities, provincial councils, and Parliament.
These instructions had been issued against the backdrop of the recent crossovers by Parliamentarians Dilan Perera and S.B. Dissanayake who obtained membership of the SLPP last week.
Mr. Amaraweera noted that the SLFP would decide on its future course of action following their annual convention which is to be held tomorrow (Sep 3).
