Roman Scott of The Calamander Group says the Sri Lankan government is "dysfunctional" and is "the definition of fractious."
Mr Scott the founder and Chairman of The Calamander Group, speaking to CNBC during an interview regarding the recent attacks said "dysfunctional is the word for the state. There is a huge feud between the President and the ruling UNP and I know coalition politics are fractious but this is the definition of fractious."
The Calamander Group is a Singapore based holding company with interests in real estate, hotels, food and beverage and consumer brands.
Mr Scott who is also the Managing Director of the Group’s private equity arm Calamander Capital, added that what has happened in the country is tantamount to "criminal negligence."
"If you had prior knowledge and you could have prevented it and you are the state, then yes I would say that is 'criminal negligence'."
Further he added " The ruling party have been systematically rolling back all of the security apparatus that this country had. The country went from a place that had a lot of experience from potential terrorist threats and lots of security and lots of checks and empowered police etc – to now almost nothing – and when you roll things back that much – too much that is a problem."
