Sri Lanka’s first ever state owned-largest wind power plant was declared open by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in Mannar today.
The plant, owned by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) was constructed on a US$ 200 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The plant is expected to add 100 MW of power to the national grid.
The plant is constructed at Mannar- Talaimannar Main street. Ministers Dulas Alagaperuma, Douglas Devananda and Parliamentarians Kader Mastan, K.Thileepan and Northern Governor P.S.M.Charles also took part in the event.
