Steps taken to manage water supply facilities
The Government is taking several measures to manage water supply facilities in view of the prevailing dry spell in the country. Accordingly, Cabinet approval has been given to broaden the water supply through water bowsers by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, construct 400 tube wells, renovate 1000 hand pumped deep wells in rural areas, and to construct 200 such wells.
Furthermore, measures will be taken to educate the public on frugal use of water, and to coordinate with relevant authorities for taking necessary measures in interruption to supply.
The proposal to initiate these measures was made by Minister of City Planning and Water Supply Rauf Hakeem.
