The Supreme Court today (Oct 1) suspended the examination of witness statements by the Special High Court in a case against former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa until October 14.
The interim order was issued after considering an appeal petition filed by Rajapaksa on the Special High Court's decision to reject his preliminary objections on the case.
A three-member judge bench headed by Justice L.T.B. Dehideniya ordered that the petition would be taken up on October 11.
Rajapaksa is facing a trial at the Special High Court for misappropriating state funds worth Rs 33.9 million in the construction of the D A Rajapaksa Memorial museum.
