The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will not support any alliance except for that between the United National Party (UNP) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran said yesterday (Feb 06).
The TNA parliamentarian added that his party would only support a national government that is formed by two major parties as stated in the constitution.
He recalled that his party did not support the previous occasion in which a national government was to be formed in order to increase the number of cabinet ministers, and thereby stressed that they would not support the formation of such governments in future.
Mr. Sumanthiran made these remarks while commenting on the proposed national government that is expected to constitute the UNP and the sole parliamentarian of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.
