The government is to construct a two-storeyed twin housing complex with 250 housing units along New Moor Street, Jaffna, to relocate 250 internally displaced families.
The Resettlement and Rehabilitation Ministry, in a cabinet proposal said each housing unit measuring 600 square feet would be constructed on a land plot spanning 7.5 acres.
The land had been purchased and donated to the government by a donor, the proposal said.
At present, there are 535 internally displaced families.
Cabinet approval to construct the housing complex had been granted yesterday (Oct 1).
