Two Lankans held over smuggling gold

Indian Customs officials at the Trivandrum International Airport on Tuesday foiled a bid by two Sri Lankan nationals to smuggle gold by concealing it inside their mouth. The two men, who arrived by Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Colombo, were held and subjected to interrogation. According to Customs Assistant Commissioner Sree Parvathy, the consignment weighed 400 gm, estimated to be worth 1.1 million Indian rupees. The gold was found in the shape of a teaspoon, hidden between the teeth and cheek. The passengers were detained following their suspicious moves, (ENS)
