Two police officers have been interdicted from their services over the assault of a female teenager in Nikaweratiya recently.
A senior police official said the suspended individuals had been serving as the officers-in-charge of the Women and Child Divisions at the Nikaweratiya and Kotawehere police stations.
The suspension had been imposed as they had allegedly refused to accept a complaint concerning the assault of a young girl in the area on December 31.
The father of the girl and two women have been remanded until January 16 in connection with the incident.
