UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein arrived in Sri Lanka this morning on a four day official visit today is scheduled to visit Jaffna and Trincomalee.
He will meet Chief Ministers and Governors of Northern and Eastern provinces tomorrow. Zeid Raad is expected to have a discussion with the Tri Forces Commanders too, a press communiqué issued by the External Affairs Ministry said yesterday.
"Substantive discussions during the visit will include measures to strengthen, promote and protect human rights, as well as steps being taken to implement the provisions of Resolution 30/1 titled 'Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka' which was adopted by the Human Rights Council on October 1 with the co-sponsorship of Sri Lanka.
