The United National Party (UNP)'s annual convention will be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo today (Oct 3).
UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the presidential candidature of Minister Sajith Premadasa would be officially announced during the event.
The convention will take place under the patronage of its leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe
Last week, the UNP's Working Committee meeting decided to nominate Premadasa as their candidate who would contest under the Democratic National Front alliance led by the UNP.
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
