The UNP vehemently rejects the President's dissolution of Parliament.
‘He has robbed the people of their rights and the Democracy that we have enjoyed‘ the party said last night .
‘This dissolution by the President is illegal and goes against the constitution'
We will be fighting this to ensure that Democracy reigns supreme in the country.’ the UNP said.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
