Put into bat first the Lankans made a fine start with both openers Sadeera Samarawickrama (74) and Dimuth Karunaratne (50rtd) making half centuries.
Later on former skipper Angelo Mathews (50rtd) and Niroshan Dickwella (73n.o.) went on to reach their half tons.
In addition captain Dinesh Chandimal (29rtd), Dilruwan Perera (48) and Roshen Silva (36n.o.) found form with Lahiru Thirimanne (17), Dasun Shanaka (2) and Dhananjaya de Silva (10) failing to consolidate of the opportunity of batting prior to the first Test against India which begins come Thursday (16) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
